Aid Turkiye!
A benefit concert at the Philharmonie Berlin in aid of the victims of the devastating earthquake catastrophe in Turkey.
The performers are OPUS Klassik prize winner Benedict Kloeckner on cello and the Ukrainian star pianist Anna Fedorova, whose interpretation of the 2nd Rachmaninov Piano Concerto has already thrilled 37 million people on YouTube.
The program includes the world premiere of "Sessizlik", which means "silence" but also "having no voice", a work by the renowned Turkish composer Kaan Bulak, written for the victims of the disaster, as well as some of the most beautiful cello sonatas by Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms.
On March 1, 2023, Anna Fedorova and Benedict Kloeckner were actually going to celebrate their 10th anniversary on stage as a duo at the Philharmonie Berlin, and instead decided to dedicate the concert to the victims of the earthquake.  They are both regular guests on Turkish stages and have strong ties to the country.
Benedict Kloeckner played just 10 days ago in front of 3000 music lovers in sold-out halls in Ankara (CSO Ada) and Istanbul (AKM Hall).
"We are shocked, about this terrible accident in Turkey and feel deeply connected with the victims. We love the country, have many close friends there. With this concert, we would like to make our private contribution to supporting those who are suffering," say Kloeckner and Fedorova.
Anna Fedorova is one of the most celebrated pianists of her generation. She performs in the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, New York's Carnegie Hall, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
On March 6, 2022, she was one of the first to initiate a benefit concert together with the Concertgebouw Amsterdam for the victims of the war in Ukraine. After raising more than 100,000 euros on that first evening, she has since given repeated benefit concerts for Ukraine. In the summer of 2022, she was a soloist in the tour organized by the Metropolitan Opera New York with the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra and performed under the baton of Keri-Lynn Wilson at the Royal Albert Hall London (BBC Proms - concert on television), the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Edinburgh Festival, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Lincoln Centre New York (twice) and the Kennedy Centre Washington.  The New York Times wrote: "Pianist Anna Fedorova was a sensitive, poetical soloist in Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2, a bow to Polish support for the Freedom Orchestra project."
Benedict Kloeckner, born in 1989, is one of the "most exciting cellists of his generation" (Welt am Sonntag). He performs worldwide as a soloist with important orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie, the NDR Radiophilharmonie, the MDR Sinfonieorchester, the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie, the Kremerata Baltica and the Münchner Kammerorchester and has already worked with renowned conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Christoph Eschenbach, Ingo Metzmacher, Michael Sanderling, Heinrich Schiff and Sir Simon Rattle. He has performed in concert halls such as Carnegie Hall New York, the Kennedy Center Washington, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Tonhalle Zurich, the Gasteig in Munich and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. His last recording of the Bach Cello Suites, released by Brilliant Classics, was RBB "Album of the Week". He recently played this Olympus of music in the Philharmonie Berlin and in the Alte Oper Frankfurt, both on the same evening.
Kloeckner shows "how sensitive, imaginative and above all ... wistfully beautiful one can play the cello." (Süddeutsche Zeitung).
The common history of both artists begins on the platform of a small Swiss train station. Shortly after Benedict Kloeckner has managed to jump on his connecting train to the Verbier Festival despite a long train delay, he sees a young woman running across the platform with two huge suitcases, calling for help so that she too can still catch the departing train. Benedict Kloeckner helps her, and as she sits gasping for breath in the compartment, she introduces herself: Anna Fedorova, pianist, also on the way to the Verbier Festival. After playing together there, they decide to found a duo. Several CDs are produced and a few years later the duo is already celebrated on the biggest stages in the world such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, in Rio de Janeiro and Paris.
